During the month of December and throughout the holiday season, Atlantic Pacific and their families cherish spending time with each other to benefit the community. Our company is a family, with many of our devoted employees having worked for us for over 20 years. Here are some highlights from this holiday season.
Mary Chandler encouraged our employees to participate in Operation Christmas Child. Over a dozen boxes were packed by generous people in our Palm Beach Gardens office for children around the world as an expression of God’s love and provided a Christmas present to open. To support a child you choose a shoebox, fill it with toys for the child, pray for the child, and pay a $9 label that ships it to a child in need around the globe.
The Burrito Project takes place in 17 locations across the nation. Locally, several churches meet every Saturday to make burritos for the homeless of Lake Worth. Lana Compton, of Atlantic Pacific Insurance, is actively involved with the Burrito project. This organization supports the community by clothing and feeding the homeless in Lake Worth. Lana has continually donationed of her time, new shoes and clothes. She also has been very involved with Grandma’s Place which takes in foster children and child who need emergency placement.
Savannah Tardonia, our Marketing Intern, founded an organization named Adopting Belle Glade in September of 2013. Annually each Christmas, Adopting Belle Glade delivers over 250 hygiene bags, one for each of the children of Christ Fellowship’s Belle Glade Life Center. Each drawstring bag consists of toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, towel, comb, washcloth, 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner, bar of soap, deodorant, pillowcase, and stocking stuffers. While immersed in a community that is stricken with high rates of crime, drug abuse, and unemployment, it is not uncommon to find out that many of these elementary to high school children are the ones helping raise their siblings, many of them have parents in and out of jail, and all these children want is to be loved. Savannah, her father and API partner, Tom Tardonia, and family attended the Life Center’s Christmas Party to deliver the bags full of many employees donations.
