The Burrito Project takes place in 17 locations across the nation. Locally, several churches meet every Saturday to make burritos for the homeless of Lake Worth. Lana Compton, of Atlantic Pacific Insurance, is a member of Community Christian Church and is actively involved with the Burrito project. In addition, Community Christian Church organizes bags of snacks, which are passed out to the community as well.
Lana has donated a variety of items and made a blanket, as the homeless men are sleeping on the ground. Other employees have donated clothes and other items. Community Christian Church has set a goal to collect 3000 lbs of food for the food banks.
Many farms in the Glades area have been gleaning their fields to feed the homeless. Many of our insureds, such as Roth Farms and RC Hatton Farms, are allowing churches to pick the produce left in the field to supply the food banks.
